Things you must understand about Platform licensing

Many of Platforms products are licensed using FlexLM which requires you to contact Platform and aquire a new license key to move Platform products from an existing enviornment to another.

Reasons for changing environments may include hardware upgrades or splitting/consolidating products over various new environments to meet new business needs

Products in the LSF Family (such as LSF 6.1) fall under this requirement. Other products such as Symphony do not. Before you continue with the License Change process you must have the following available:
  1. Access to the Current License Key that you wish to modify;
  2. If doing a Product transfer (or rehost) you will need access to the FlexLM Host information on the other enviorments involved. You will also require access to any other license keys if the other environments are currently running Platform Products;
  3. You should have a clear understanding on what exactly you wish to do. If transferring you need to understand how many environments are involved, if upgrading you need to know what version you wish to upgrade to;
