Products designed to manage grid
and cluster complexity for IT
TORONTO, Canada, May 20, 2008 –
Platform Computing, the global leader in High Performance Computing
(HPC) management software, has unveiled a suite of products to help
customers manage resources and control costs within HPC and grid
computing environments. The Platform Manage suite includes the products
Platform Manager, formerly known as Scali Manage (acquired from Scali
Inc. in 2007), Platform RTM, Platform Analytics and Platform VM
Orchestrator (VMO). The company’s existing suite of products, now
referred to as Platform Accelerate, includes the industry leading
products Platform LSF and Platform Symphony that accelerate compute and
data intensive applications. Together, these two suites comprise the
fundamental HPC management software needed by enterprise users to
develop and run applications and manage HPC environments.
As HPC and grid computing becomes more pervasive, the Platform Manage
suite addresses the growing need to reduce the complexity of cluster
and grid management. The suite delivers a broad range of capabilities
that enable customers to deploy, administer, track, report, monitor,
provision, and manage compute resources and applications. Platform
Computing will offer a range of HPC management software for industries
such as Electronics, Industrial Manufacturing, Financial Services, Life
Sciences, Oil & Gas, and Government & Education. While both
Platform Manage and Platform Accelerate are integrated solutions, the
individual products can be adopted separately or together based on
customer requirements.
“As the use of HPC grows, Platform’s strategy is to make it easier for
users to deploy and manage these complex environments,” said Songnian
Zhou, CEO, Platform Computing. “The products within the Platform Manage
suite will greatly benefit medium and large enterprises in their
efforts to control costs, manage grid performance and reduce energy
use. These products are integrated with our widely used workload
management solutions to further simplify the deployment and the
customer adoption of enterprise grid. Also, Platform Manager works
across heterogeneous hardware and software environments including other
workload management solutions, recognizing that every HPC system is
different. We want to make HPC adoption easier for all users no matter
what industry or technology.”
"Platform Computing is addressing top HPC user requirements for
improved HPC parallel application development tools, improved job
management and better cluster system management,” said Earl C. Joseph,
Vice President, High Performance Systems, IDC. "The HPC cluster market
has seen stellar growth over the last five years and now represents
over 65% of all HPC servers. But as clusters get larger and more
complex they are also becoming considerably harder to use and mange. A
crucial part of HPC clusters is the ability to manage the cluster,
including job and system management, which are consistently identified
by end-users as the top requirements for their clusters. What’s
refreshing is that Platform Computing is completely open and
encouraging a heterogeneous plug and play approach for Platform Manage.
This should be good for the HPC industry and for end-users.”
Platform Computing continues its commitment to Platform Open Cluster
Stack (OCS) 5, a complete HPC management software solution targeted at
new adopters. It is an integrated set of open source-based
technologies and tools that minimizes the cost, deployment and
management of Linux clusters. Platform OCS 5 is available to the market
promoted by our partners Dell, HP, and Red Hat and supported through
the Intel® Cluster Ready Program.
