Next Generation Cluster Management Stack
Greatly Reduces Total Cost of Operation by up to 75 Percent
SC07, RENO, Nevada, November 13, 2007– Platform
Computing launches Platform Open Cluster Stack (OCS) 5, a fully
supported, pre-integrated, vendor-certified software stack that enables
the consistent delivery of scale-out application clusters. This new
version of Platform OCS* is built on an open source toolkit for cluster
deployment, provisioning and configuration, providing users with
maximum reliability, speed and flexibility. Additionally, Platform OCS
5 offers a reduced total cost of operation and improved node imaging
and management via deep Red Hat Network integration, operating system
independence and flexible provisioning methods. Platform OCS 5 is the
partner of choice of the Dell High Performance Computing Clusters
program. It is the only High Performance Computing (HPC) recipe
available as part of the Intel® Enabled Server Acceleration Alliance
(ESAA) program and is the first commercial software system used to
create certified Intel® Cluster Ready systems.
Platform OCS 5 has been developed specifically to improve performance
and simplicity, while also lowering the costs of supporting and
operating an HPC infrastructure. Traditionally, cluster deployments are
time, service and personnel-intensive, with an average install time per
node of three to four minutes. Supporting an image-based install,
Platform OCS 5 can cut deployment time by up to 75 percent — making it
one of the fastest cluster deployment toolkits available.
“Platform OCS 5, the leading HPC cluster software stack, is affordable
and well-suited for small and medium-sized businesses that need the
compute muscle that only HPC solutions can provide,” said Jingwen Wang,
Vice President Products, Platform Computing. “This latest release
supports Platform’s strategy to define and deliver the complete
infrastructure software stack for scale-out applications in the HPC
industry.”
“Platform Open Cluster Stack has played an integral role in
facilitating the mainstream adoption of cluster solutions globally,”
said Kevin Noreen, Senior Manager, Dell. “Platform’s new release of OCS
5 aligns nicely with Dell’s strategy to deliver easy-to-use and
affordable clusters in an expanding market for High Performance
Computing.”
Platform’s mission is to help analysts, engineers and scientists
advance the world by exploiting the power of High Performance
Computing. The company is a pioneer in HPC cluster and grid software
solutions in industries including Electronics, Oil and Gas, Industrial
Manufacturing, Government/Research, Education, Life Sciences and
Financial Services, globally.
Platform OCS 5 will be available at the end of December 2007.
