Platform Computing Adopting DRMAA Standards

Leader in High Performance Computing to Support DRMAA within Platform LSF

TORONTO, Canada, December 18, 2007 – Platform Computing announced a partnership agreement with FedStage Systems for the distribution of FedStage’s Distributed Resource Management Application API (DRMAA) for Platform LSF.  The FedStage DRMAA library for LSF is an open source implementation of the Open Grid Forum’s DRMAA 1.0 specification.

Under the terms of the agreement, FedStage Systems will make the DRMAA library for LSF available under the Apache 2.0 open source license.  Platform Computing will have the right to distribute and provide support for this library as part of the LSF family of products.  With the integration of the DRMAA specification into LSF, customers and developers will be able to take full advantage of a standardized interface, making it quicker and easier for them to access and write applications for grid environments, at a lower cost and with reduced integration times.

“FedStage Systems is dedicated to the wide adoption of emerging open standards for the HPC industry and has been deeply involved with the standardization activities of the Open Grid Forum,” said Yasmin Forbes, Business Director, FedStage Systems.  “We look forward to partnering with Platform Computing to bring these emerging standards to the market.”

The Platform family of products is the industry’s most powerful and comprehensive family of HPC infrastructure software solutions.  Platform helps manage and optimize expensive and complex IT environments, delivering higher IT efficiency, faster time to business results, dramatically reduced cost of computing and guaranteed service execution.  Platform LSF fully utilizes all IT resources regardless of operating system, including desktops, servers to ensure policy-driven, prioritized service levels for reliable access to resources.

“Platform is committed to making standards-based APIs and interfaces available to developers who want to integrate their applications with our products,” said Chris Smith, Principal Product Architect, Platform Computing and Vice President of Standards, Open Grid Forum.  “FedStage Systems is a significant player in bringing standards to the high performance computing industry and providing our ISV partners and customers the core capabilities necessary for greater interoperability.”

The library is immediately available from http://sourceforge.net/projects/lsf-drmaa.  Further information can be found at http://www.fedstage.com/wiki/FedStage_DRMAA_for_LSF.
