Dresden, Germany, June 27, 2007 – Platform
Computing announced today at the International Supercomputing
Conference (ISC) that it will enable HPC Technologies to become Intel®
Cluster Ready through Platform Open Cluster Stack (OCS)*. Intel®
Cluster Ready is a new program and technology designed to simplify the
development, purchase, deployment, usage and management of clustered
computer systems. Platform OCS is the first commercial software system
used to create certified Intel® Cluster Ready systems that enable the
consistent delivery of scale-out application clusters. HPC
Technologies, a Dell Japan reseller, will be bundling Platform LSF and
Platform OCS with their cluster offerings.
HPC Technologies provides Dell high performance computing solutions
to small businesses across diverse fields of research in the Japanese
market. Many of HPC Technologies’ customers have small clusters and
need a stable, easy-to-implement solution. Platform OCS and Intel®
Cluster Ready offer HPC Technologies the peace-of-mind that the
hardware and software on their small clusters are certified and
interoperable with third-party applications necessary for customers to
conduct work and research.
"Platform OCS as part of Intel® Cluster Ready provides a great
foundation for creating standards for software and hardware components
making it easier to run HPC software applications," said Norimichi
Suzuki, President, HPC Technologies. "Platform OCS is the most
reputable, stable solution for smaller businesses looking to implement
the power of cluster solutions without taking time or resources away
from their core business."
Platform OCS democratizes and streamlines the process of
implementing HPC solutions on Linux-based clusters. A pre-integrated,
vendor certified software stack, Platform OCS enables a new class of
HPC users by simplifying Linux® cluster application, deployment and
management. Backed by available, global 24x7 enterprise support,
Platform OCS is a modular and hybrid stack that transparently
integrates open source and commercial software into a single,
consistent cluster operating environment.
"By implementing Platform OCS as part of their Intel® Cluster Ready
certified systems, HPC Technologies’ customers will have the assurance
that the hardware and software they need will operate smoothly and
efficiently," said Simon Lonsdale, Director of Strategic Alliances,
Platform Computing. "Teaming with Platform enables the opportunity to
offer easy-to-use, small-scale cluster solutions to businesses in
Japan."
