Dresden, Germany, June 28, 2007 – Platform
Computing announced today at the International Supercomputing
Conference (ISC) that it will enable HPC Systems to become Intel®
Cluster Ready through Platform Open Cluster Stack (OCS)*. Intel®
Cluster Ready is a new program and technology designed to simplify the
development, purchase, deployment, usage and management of clustered
computer systems. Platform OCS is the first commercial software system
used to create certified Intel® Cluster Ready systems that enable the
consistent delivery of scale-out application clusters. HPC Systems, a
Japanese integrated hardware vendor (IHV), will bundle Platform OCS and
Platform LSF with their cluster offerings.
Platform OCS and Intel® Cluster Ready offer HPC Systems an
off-the-shelf solution for non-savvy, first-time cluster users. The
standardization of cluster tools Platform OCS provides, equates to a
quicker time to market for entry-level users at lower costs than was
previously possible. Platform OCS and Intel® Cluster Ready assures
users that the third-party applications necessary for their core
business are interoperable on all Intel-certified clusters.
"By partnering with Platform Computing and Intel, HPC Systems firmly
establishes itself as a key vendor in the personal supercomputing
space," said Kenetsu Hanabusa, CEO, HPC Systems, Inc. "With the support
and customization Platform OCS provides, first-time cluster users can
rest assured that their cluster solution will operate smoothly and
efficiently along with third-party applications."
Platform OCS democratizes and streamlines the process of
implementing HPC solutions on Linux-based clusters. A pre-integrated,
vendor certified software stack, Platform OCS enables a new class of
HPC users by simplifying Linux® cluster application, deployment and
management. Backed by available, global 24x7 enterprise support,
Platform OCS is a modular and hybrid stack that transparently
integrates open source and commercial software into a single,
consistent cluster operating environment.
"With Platform OCS, new users can implement a reliable, certified
and reasonably-priced cluster solution," said Simon Lonsdale, Director
of Strategic Alliances, Platform Computing. "Partnering with HPC
Systems provides more Japanese customers with the opportunity to
implement easy-to-use small-scale cluster solutions."
