Tips & Tricks

Platform LSF QUESTION
How do I find out which hosts in my cluster are using the dual core Platform LSF licenses?

You can use "lim -t" to detect whether it is a dual core machine or not (Platform LSF versions 6.2 and higher).

Platform LSF QUESTION
How can I exclude specific hosts in "bsub"?

Here is the syntax for excluding specific machines in the "bsub"" command:

$ bsub -q queue_name -R ?hname!=hostX && hname!=hostY? job_name

In the above example, hostX and hostY are the machines that will be excluded from the execution hosts. In other words, Platform LSF will not dispatch this job to these machines irrespective of the fact that these machines are part of the host group defined at the queue level.

Platform Symphony QUESTION
Can I set the number of cores per host or can I only do it at the resource group level?

The number of slots on each host can either be set at the resource group level (each host has the same number of slots) or it can be set specifically for each individual host at the resource entry level.

If lim is restarted does it affect the date of the next purge?

Restarting lim will not affect purge times. Those are only affected by restarting the purge service.
